Arthur Teubner L.Ac.
Arthur E. Teubner L.Ac., Founder and Director of Life Center for Health and Complementary Medicine began his studies in Oriental medical theory with training in Shiatsu and Acupressure-Polarity in Boston more than 30 years ago.This led to extended studies over 14 years under Masahilo Nakazono Sensei and Family , gaining much experience in Kototama methods of Japanese medicine. He has studied Chinese Herbs extensively under Dr. Ted Kaptchuk at The New England School of Acupuncture and more than 8 years studying and working with Chinese Master Dr. J Shen in New York. He continues to educate himself in the medicinal uses of Chinese and native herbs and is presently working with Qi Gong Grandmaster Dr. Hong Liu to integrate Medical Qi Gong into his Practice.
He is a Diplomate, National Commission for The Certification of Acupuncturists and member of the Kototama Institute and holds licensure in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology in both Massachusetts and Florida.
Since returning to Cape Cod in 1984, he has maintained a full time, year round, committment to his practice working with individuals, children and families in improving their health through treatment and education. In addition Life Center offers the multidimensional services of a wide variety of other health professionals, including massage therapy, chiropractic care, counseling, reiki, yoga, pilates, tai chi and martial arts etc.
Arthur Teubner is also founder of First Light, an Organic Farm in Truro which has been the site of both a CSA and a educational non-profit organization dedicated to integrating the goals of Life Center and First Light Farm to explore and foster the health of the whole person.
Acupuncture and Oriental medical treatments are undertaken at Life Center in private, individual sessions, never in group or so called "community acupuncture" so that confidentiality and comfort are guaranteed in our relaxing and beautiful treatment rooms.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a complete system of medicine based on principles which have been used in the Orient for the last 4,000 years. It is a form of Oriental medicine that works with the natural energies inherent within all living things to promote the body's ability to heal itself.
Acupuncture works with life force energy (or Ki) which is the vital energy that created the body originally and keeps it alive and functioning properly. These subtle electrical charges flow through the body in what are known as pathways or meridians. An acupuncturist finds disharmony and treats the individual accordingly.
Any health problem, disease, or illness may be treated by acupuncture. It is very well known to alleviate chronic and acute pain or discomfort and has been very successful with fertility issues.
Chinese Herbs
Chinese herbs are sometimes perscribed by themselves or in addition to the acupuncture treatment. They can be animal, mineral or vegetable based although the majority are vegetable sources. Leaves, flowers, stems, twigs, roots, tubers, rhizomes and barks are some parts used. When taking herbs, if there are any side effects, let your practitioner know so they can adjust the formula. There should be no side effects when taking chinese herbs.
The Life Center has two convenient locations on Cape Cod. One in Orleans and one in Provincetown.
Arthur is available by appointment in Orleans on Mondays and Thursdays and then in P-town on Tuesdays and Fridays.
